Conservatory Painting in Oxford

Radcliffe Decorators repaint and respray conservatory frames across Oxford and Oxfordshire.
A white UPVC conservatory from the 1990s or 2000s can look dated and yellowed within fifteen years. Respraying the frame in a contemporary colour is a fraction of the cost of replacement.
- UPVC conservatory frameworks: colour change or refresh

UPVC Conservatory Frameworks
White UPVC is the most common conservatory material on Oxford’s 1990s and 2000s housing. We use spray application to achieve a factory-smooth finish. The most popular colour change is from white to anthracite grey or black.
Aluminium Conservatory Frames
Older conservatories on 1980s and early 1990s properties were built with aluminium profiles. Aluminium can be repainted with the right preparation: cleaning, abrading, metal primer, and two finish coats.
Timber Conservatory Frames
Victorian and Edwardian properties in Headington, Iffley, and Summertown sometimes have original or period-style timber lean-to conservatories. We treat timber conservatory frames to the same standard as any other exterior joinery.
Dwarf Walls and Brickwork
Most conservatories sit on a dwarf wall. If the brickwork is painted or rendered, repainting it as part of the conservatory project completes the refresh.
Colour Options
The before and after on a conservatory colour change is one of the most immediate visual transformations available without structural work. We advise on colour coordination with existing window frames and rear doors.

Our Conservatory Painting Process
1. Assessment
We check the conservatory frame material, condition, and size. We advise on whether painting is appropriate.
2. Cleaning and Degreasing
All profiles are cleaned and degreased thoroughly. Residue from cleaning products or silicone sealant must be removed.
3. Abrading
The profiles are lightly abraded to create a key for the primer.
4. Masking
The glazing panels are masked carefully. A conservatory has a much larger glass area relative to its frame than a standard window.
5. Primer Application
UPVC adhesion primer, metal primer, or wood primer as appropriate is applied and allowed to cure.
6. Two Topcoats
Sprayed for a professional factory-smooth finish.
7. Inspection
Tape is removed, edges checked, and any touch-ups completed before we leave.

Conservatory Painting Costs in Oxford
Prices below are estimates only. Every property is different. Call 01865 537996 for a precise quote.

What Drives the Price
Frame material, frame size, and any additional surfaces like dwarf walls. Oxford labour rates are higher than the UK average.
Typical Ranges
Small lean-to: £400 to £600. Standard conservatory: £550 to £850. Large Victorian-style or orangery: £800 to £1,200. Aluminium: add £100 to £200 for additional preparation.
Spray Application
Spray application requires specialist setup and masking time. Both are reflected in the figures above. The result is a factory-smooth finish that brush application cannot match.
Radcliffe Decorators provide fixed quotes for conservatory painting after a site visit. The cost compares favourably with conservatory replacement, which typically starts at £8,000 to £15,000.
